David Vincent Wheeler | British Realist Painter

David Wheeler’s paintings have consistently explored his relationship and fascination with the urban environment.

In recent years his horizons have widened with his latest work reflects a newfound passion for Italy, the birthplace of geometrically inspired realism and home to a quality of light quite different to the North European experience. His epic vistas of cities such as Florence and Rome are on first sight highly intricate backdrops for the viewer to explore. However, by the rigour of his approach and the quality of his draughtsmanship we are never lost, but walk alongside the artist, experiencing a sense of place that is both physically all encompassing and visually intoxicating.
